At West Alvington Primary School, we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities.
We consider that the needs of the individual child are key to their learning success.
Children’s progress is regularly monitored and assessed and careful records are kept. Sometimes we find that a child does not make the progress we expect and when this happens, we talk with parents and appropriate steps are put in place to support the child.
The school allocates resources for pupils with special educational needs as required. A Learning Support Assistant may be allocated to support children with special educational needs within the classroom and in withdrawn groups according to their needs.
The procedure for individual identification, individual assessment arrangements and regular reviews are as follows:-
Statements of Special Educational Need are called Educational Health and Care Plans.
