Homework is an important part of the partnership between parents and the school. It can provide a window into school life and is a real opportunity for you to support your child’s learning.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage, the children will begin to bring home a reading book that supports their phonics teaching in school. Your child will be given a reading book once they are confident enough with their letter sounds to really benefit from the reading scheme.
In year 1 and 2, the children continue to work their way through the reading scheme – the most valuable thing you can do as a parent is to hear them read aloud and share books with your children.
Also in year 1 and 2, children will be given a set of spellings to learn each week. It is a great help to support your child in their learning and practicing of these spellings.
