Forest School

What is Forest School?

Forest School sessions aim to  develop self - esteem, independence and a positive attitude to learning through practical experiences whilst fostering a love of the outdoors and respect for nature.

Our sessions are led by a qualified practitioner, Moira Laidlaw, in West Alvington Woods with kind permission from Mr and Mrs Manisty who own the site.

Each session is carefully planned in conjunction with the class teacher to meet the needs of  individuals. Activites such as shelter building, camp fire cooking and blindfold games encourage teamwork, independence and responsibility whilst teaching practical skills such as knot tying and the safe use of simple hand tools.

Each class has a 6 week block of Forest School session in the school year, allowing children to build on and develop their skills as they grow.
